traditional

Now that the new year is upon us and Dane’s getting back to work and routines are getting back to normal and all, I will go ahead and say this: I was hoping that the week between Christmas and New Year’s was going to be a calming bubble of relaxation.

And it was, as long as by “calming bubble of relaxation” you mean “week during which the grown-ups succumb to a nasty chest-cold and don’t really get better until the vacation days are over.”

In other words, it wasn’t. A calming bubble. Of relaxation. Not so much.

It occurs to me, though, that this is part of our holiday tradition. See? 2006: Sick plus Star Wars. 2007: Sick plus chocolate. 2008: Sick plus no resolutions. So being sick is almost like celebrating! Right? Because if it’s a tradition… then… No? Not really? Eh, well.

 happy new year!

May 2010 be all that you hope.
