Sometimes one or more of my children has a very good reason for not sleeping: illness, teething, the occasional bad dream, a sister who kicked you in her sleep. I understand this.
I would like to point out that their having a good reason, does not make me any less tired the next day.
That is all.

Amen.
Last night I was woken up by all three children — A nightmare, a bizarre scream in the night (by a child who actually didn’t wake up herself) and a 5 am nursing. I’m plotting when I can fit in a 20 minute nap today.
You know you’re in terrible need of a nap when your baby is down for his and you seriously contemplate just throwing yourself on the floor for a quick forty winks…but that’s the only time you can get anything done in the daytime so you don’t.
Yes, they have a good reasons for waking (sometimes), but you have good reason for being tired. Perpetual fatigue is no fun!
How’s this for math: if they each have an infinite number of good reasons to be awake, I have an infinite number TIMES FOUR of reasons to be tired. Never thought of it like that before…
Sadie’s napping right now and I would totally go fall asleep on the floor myself except that Audrey’s awake and I don’t quite trust an unsupervised 3yo.
Another day…
