You know what sucks about Fridays? On Fridays, I make a (usually mental) list of everything I want to get done over the weekend. And then none of it ever gets done.
Because oddly enough, the kids still need feeding and the baby still needs diapering and the toddler still needs entertaining even on Saturdays! Who knew?
And yet I continue to make lists. Clean out kids’ closets! Shred towering stack of old documents! Rearrange kitchen cabinets! And then on Monday I will either be frustrated, or I will think: maybe next weekend! Because eventually there will come a magical weekend that consists of thirty-hour days in which to accomplish these things, yes?
Sigh.

You make lists?! I’m impressed, you get points just for that. I personally am working on how to eliminate sleep from my schedule altogether, I know I’d get so much more done. As of yet though, sleep wins out every time.
I’ve solved the problem. I put things like “feed cat” and “go for coffee” on the list. All those crossed-out to-do items look great!
How ironic. I am sitting here surrounded by 4 lists I made this morning. And I’m not even done yet! I think I spend more time creating lists than I actually do marking things off of them.
I do the exact same thing. I make lists that never get done. Why oh why do I continue to believe that weekends are going to be PRODUCTIVE?
Last week I spent an afternoon (while the baby was sleeping) organizing the pantry. What a waste of time! It lasted about 1-1/2 days, ha ha.
I have lists. I forget where I put them, usually.
I think the making of lists shows a certain hopefulness for the future, no?
Even if the days had 30 hours, your kids would only sleep for, what, six of them?
This is a good point. I bet the longer the days are, the less they would sleep. Just guessing.
I love that I’m not the only who thinks I can get 200% as much accomplished during a weekend. This was me last summer as well… I made a list of one big task to get done each week the kids were home from school. Of course I didn’t even get one thing done.
I love your blog design, by the way. Thanks for your visit and comment!
Thanks, Amber!
I wasn’t even close to 200% this weekend. I think it was maybe like 80%.
Thanks! Nice post.
