I keep hoping that one of these days Sari will post a How to Make Sock Monkeys tutorial. With pictures. And that it will seem so crazy easy that I actually try it. (Because how cute is this? Or this? Or this other one?)
I looked at the tutorial and that’s pretty much how I make it but I’ll tell you, I don’t pin. I don’t draw lines, it’s WAY too much work and complicated work freaks me out. And I think they have a lot more personality if you just freehand it anyway. I don’t care if their ears are a little lopsided or they’re kind of lumpy or their arms don’t quite match, it gives them heart.
I might do a non-threatening tutorial, I have a sock monkey to make for someone and it sounds like fun!!
Check out the sock monkeys here: http://thehomespunheart.blogspot.com/2008/10/handcrafted-christmas-sock-monkeys.html
She has a link to a tutorial that stopped working (my comment as Lily’s Mama was answered by her) and she’s posted a new link in her last comment. enjoy!
Oh, dear. I don’t think I’m allowed to take up another craft just now, but these ARE tempting!
It really is crazy easy. I love making sock monkeys and giving them away to friend’s children. Once you make your first one, you’ll be hooked.
I’m kind of afraid of sewing knits. Is that crazy?
Oh you’re so nice!!
I’m blushing!!!!

Oops, I didn’t mean to make you blush! Though I still hope you will do a tutorial.
