Says Dane: “Would you take it the wrong way if I bought you a really nice iron* for your birthday or our anniversary?”
Says me: “What’s the RIGHT way to take that?”
*It would have been for sewing, see. To make the sewing easier. Instead I got an ipod and speakers.
So I had a birthday this week. Also our wedding anniversary—we’ve been married nine years. Yes, we got married the day after my birthday. No, that wasn’t good planning in terms of spacing out the gift-giving, but it works for us.
To recap: I’m married. And also older. The end.

Happy birthday! And happy anniversary.
Oh, many happy returns for both days! Did you get to enjoy the birthday the day before your wedding, or was it ever so stressful?
iPods are also useful for sewing. But I do think the statute of limitations on being offended about domestic gifts comes at ten years of marriage (because all the stuff you got for your wedding is REALLY old by then). By then, a new iron might seem really appealing!
Happy birth-iversary!
Happy birthday and anniversary!
We don’t do gifts for anniversaries, much, anyway, so it wouldn’t totally minimize the gift-giving here. My husband’s birthday is the day after Christmas. THAT is a pain in the ass.
Thank you all.
Wow 9 years! And a birthday, woo hoo! Our wedding was the day after my husband’s (and two days after mine) and we chose that specifically to get out of gifting at least one holiday. We’re cheap like that.
Three in one week, awesome.
Oh, and Jeanie: I’ve been trying to remember my birthday the year we got married, but I’m drawing a blank. I was definitely busy… I’m guessing it was overshadowed by the wedding. Though there was probably cake. There always is.
Happy birthday (late) and anniversary! An iPod is fun.
Around here, we have our anniversary, then my birthday, then mother’s day. So it’s sort of a blur here for that sort of thing, though I did get an awesome Hello Kitty birthday cake this year.
I’m sorry I’m late!!
Hello Kitty cake! Nice.
Oh, How wonderful! I’m sorry to not have wished you happy birthday on your special day! Just think one day you will make it to the thirty something club. you should really celebrate then!
Happy happy to you!! It’s nice to visit, giggle, and see all the great stuff you all are doing. I like thinking of the holiday overlaps, too. Let’s see, DH and I have the same birthday and our wedding was two days after Christmas. Our second baby has the same due date, three years later, as our first. So I guess we like our celebrations overlapping here, too! Cheers…

Another member of the July birthday/anniversary club. Happy belated Birthday!
[...] And to think, I could have been ironing the cord of a brand-new-ish iron. [...]
