Dear Daylight Savings Time,
You suck.
Love,
Me

Dude. It’s been, what, five days since we changed the clocks? And tonight was the first night Audrey fell asleep before TEN P.M. That’s compared to, you know, SEVEN o’clock most nights. Apparently we didn’t just change the clocks, we RESET HER BRAIN.
And the bigger kids aren’t doing much better. We can get them into bed “on time,” but somehow the sun still being in the sky does not result in their falling directly to sleep. Go figure.
Even that shouldn’t be a big deal, since we don’t have to get up at a set time in the morning, right? Sure, right. Except that DANE still has to get up and go to work, and for some unknown reason, none of our kids can sleep if anyone else in the house is awake. So they’re getting up an hour earlier than they were last week.
This time change thing is awesome, I tell you. Just the ticket for all those parents whose kids get too much sleep! And we all know how much of a problem that can be…

The baby has been getting up all week (Spring Break week, here) at 6AM. Or even earlier. When he doesn’t need to. When everyone else is asleep.
But he coos and giggles so cutely and softly, I just can’t help but hug him. Good thing for him, ha ha.
I second your starting sentiment.
It’s also not fun to get up at 6:00 am when it’s still VERY DARK!
And like Audrey, Caleb has been averaging about seven hours of sleep a night. Down at 8, asleep by 10, up by 5. FUN!!!
Amen. We were having our own sleep drama before changing the clocks so it’s only amplified the frustrations. Who are we to think we can all just go change time all willy nilly?
Mean old time change.
LOL!!
I was literally just on the phone telling my mom how Sen has been up at, oh, 4:30 most mornings this past week, in the pitch dark ready to go, and fretful all night like a newborn (molars coming, yes, but COME ON already!). Then I pulled up your blog (bad multi-tasker I am) and read this entry to her. We had a great laugh, thanks!
And thanks to the other moms for making me feel less alone in our sleep insanity…
M, you rock. We miss you guys, and we’ll see you after our trip East (which couldn’t make the sleeping any WORSE now, could it?!). Hugs!
My baby boy is a horrible sleeper anyway… and this just adds to it!! Needless to say I’ve had LOTS of coffee here lately.
Go coffee!
Meeg: You rock, too. I’m sure that travel will totally fix the sleep issues. No, I do not know how.
Have fun!
