I took Abigail and Owen with me to vote this evening. They were quiet and polite, got “I Voted” stickers, and were generally in awe of all that is poll-related.
As we were leaving, Abigail said with a sigh: “I voted in my heart.” (All together now: Awwww…)
Her candidate of choice might have preferred an actual vote, but that’ll have to wait another eleven years.

Peanut wore my “I Voted” sticker proudly for hours after we left the polls. In the evening, he suddenly yanked it off and handed it to me, saying, “Here. I didn’t really vote,” in a very serious tone of voice.
Owen keeps asking (two days later!), “So did we vote? Did I vote? Did you vote?” Clearly we’ll have to try this again sometime.
Awwww, Abigail!!
But wait — did you say who you voted for? Did is miss something?
I didn’t– I’m tricksy that way. Or annoying that way, maybe. I suspect we can hardly go wrong at this point, though.
