Ahh, finally! We are well, and getting better! Except for the children, who are getting sicker every minute. How can I tell they’re sick, you ask? Well, Abigail’s running a fever (update: so is Audrey), and Owen is kicking people. Yes, I DO believe kicking to be a symptom of illness, thankyouverymuch, because if it isn’t, then I am raising children with the social skills of camels. And I don’t think I can handle that realization today. Besides, there’s the phlegm. They’re sick.

I thought today would be all routine-y and productive (Dane’s at work! Nothing fun to do! Let’s get the house in order!), but no. For one thing, the sick. For another, we had no food to sustain us for prolonged productivity. Dane and I managed to forget that yesterday was a holiday and that grocery stores would, as a result, be closing early. So when we realized at dinnertime last night that there was really no food to speak of in the house, it was already too late to get more.

Gimme a break, we were sick. That and also stupid. So today I had a frozen burrito, four chocolate cookies, two pieces of English toffee, and a box of tea bags to last until Dane brought groceries home after work. (Don’t worry, the kids had real food. Which I guess I could have chosen to partake of. Mmm, spelt noodles in olive oil! White beans! Frozen peas! And cherry tomatoes! Huh. It’s starting to sound like I could probably have made these ingredients into some kind of a meal here. But remember? Sick! And stupid!)

So the kids ate and rested today. I did a bunch of laundry and did not eat much. Dane’s out grocery shopping now. And tomorrow will be better. Or phlegmier. But either way, it will already be Wednesday! Just two more work days after that until Dane gets to share all day in the sick-children-ishness that is our household. I love short work weeks. Dane may not love them so much. Hard to say.
