I have no idea – I don’t know what it’s like to have a kid that doesn’t have a fit if you put him in the crib. Ours made a very expensive laundry basket. But I’d say if the bumper is cute, leave it. Bumps on heads heal – kidding.
Look it up to be sure but I think I took it off at about 1 year for the second child. I don’t remember the first, he’ll be 17 Sunday – who can remember what we did with his bumper!
I used the bumper until the kids were strong enough to rip the little ties off it and throw it on the floor. Then I took the hint.
There’s a school of thought that crib bumpers are ALWAYS bad… and there’s a school of thought that you could keep your kid in a hermetically sealed room with no sharp corners and only organic foods and they’d still find a way to get bruises and sniffles, so do what feels right instead of worrying about “should.”
