I think sometimes we expect our kids to be big round pearls, and they turn out the be long, skinny freshwater pearls or great big black pearls-- wonderful and amazing, but not what we were counting on, and that throws us. Possibly I'm pushing the metaphor a bit too far here.<br/><br/>You're such a good mom for Cricket because you're not trying to make him into something he isn't. Now you just have to focus on what he IS, and how to celebrate that.<br/><br/>And we can both read what Devra and Aviva have to say about nixing the guilt!<br/><br/>And I better email you this comment, or you may never see it! Or at least that they will learn not to hit. Whatever.
