I think sometimes we expect our kids to be big round pearls, and they turn out the be long, skinny freshwater pearls or great big black pearls-- wonderful and amazing, but not what we were counting on, and that throws us. Possibly I'm pushing the metaphor a bit too far here.<br/><br/>You're such a good mom for Cricket because you're not trying to make him into something he isn't.
